Scene Kid Hair

Scene Kid Hair

Scene kid hair is big, bold and most importantly, unique! To create unique scene girl hairstyles it is important to plan ahead. Our top tips on how to do scene kid hair will help you to decide on how your style is going to take shape, help you choose your hair colour, hair length, hair accessories and overall impact!

Scene Kid Hair Tip #1

Scene girls almost always wear their hair long and BIG!

Scene kid hair usually has LOTS of layers, and is long in the back and short at the front. Ask your hairstylist to cut lots of layers into your hair and to make sure that they are shorter on top and long on the bottom. Layering the hair gives the appearance of added volume. It is important to make sure your hairstylist gives you lots of layers around the crown of your head, this will allow for the backcombed / teased / ‘poofy’ look that is a big part of the scene girl hairstyles. Having the layers razored is another way to create additional extra texture in your scene kid hair.

In addition to all those layers you should also consider having bangs (a fringe) cut. Bangs (fringes) are an important part of scene kid hair, and you will find that most scene haircuts feature a bold, straight fringe or heavy bang. Ask your stylist for advice on what type of fringe (bangs) will best suit your face shape.

You may also want to ask your stylist to make the sides of your hair come to the front at an angle so that you can gel or hairspray them forward. Mohawks and spikes are also becoming popular additions to scene kid hair.

If you need extra help in choosing your scene girl hairstyles don’t be afraid to ask your hairstylist for advice. You could even take along some pictures of scene kid hair that you like to show to your stylist. Your hairstylist should know how to cut scene hair and will be able to create unique scene haircuts for you.

Scene Kid Hair Tip #2

Scene kid hair is usually dyed bold colours.

Choose a hair colour that is bold and different from your natural hair colour (black or blonde are always the most popular scene kid hair colours, but don’t be afraid to experiment and be unique!). If your hair is naturally black or dark brown then you may want to dye your hair jet black or blue black – these colours will stand out and look really flattering.

Neon colors, such as bright pink, green, yellow and orange, or dark tones of maroon, red or blue, can add strong contrast to your scene kid hair and make other tones stand out. If you need extra help in choosing your scene kid hair colour then don’t be afraid to ask your hairstylist for advice on which colours would suit your skin tone. You could dye all of your hair, add some highlights, or add bright colour to a section of your hair – if you want to be really bold then do all three!

Scene Kid Hair Tip #3

Scene kid hair is full of texture and teased / backcombed.

If you want to ‘poof’ your scene kid hair then you are going to need two things:

1. A teasing comb

2. LOTS of hairspray – Rave hairspray is highly recommended (get the aerosol can NOT the spray kind)

How to ’Poof’ Your Scene Kid Hair

• Divide your hair into sections, starting with the top layers.

• Lift a layer and spray the roots with hairspray.

• Allow 3-5 seconds for the hairspray to dry a little bit.

• Using your comb, start teasing (back combing) your hair. Work from the middle of the hair down to the root.

• Hairspray the hair that you have just teased.

• Repeat this method all around your head to create an even look.

• Make sure that you get out all the little rats and spray down the fly away hairs!!
